CANCELLED: "Overcoming Chronic Violence and Its Perverse Effects on Community in Latin America"
Mon, October 29, 2012 • 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM
EVENT CANCELLED
Tani Adams, Founder and Senior Scholar at the International Institute of Learning for Social Reconciliation in Guatemala, will build upon her Wilson Center report, Chronic Violence and its Reproduction: Perverse Trends in Social Relations, Citizenship, and Democracy in Latin America, which examined the causes and consequences of chronic violence, particularly in Mexico, Central America, Colombia, and the Caribbean, and for women, the young, and certain ethnic groups. In this talk she uses a new research project and her own experience as an activist to focus on locally-based policy initiatives that can help people overcome the destructive effects of violence on their lives and communities.
