Lecture: "Prisons in Latin America: Building up the Wall of Separation Between Justice and Revenge"

Miguel Sarre has been Professor of Law at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) in Mexico City since 1997 and is director of the Center for Public Law at ITAM. He is currently a member of the United Nations Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture and Other Cruel, Inhumane, or Degrading Treatment or Punishment. His research focuses on human rights and intersections of international human rights law with public security and criminal justice issues. His current project involves management analysis of the National Commission of Human Rights. Professor Sarre is a representative for the academic sector on the Secretaría del Consejo de Coordinación para la Implementación del Sistema de Justicia Penal (SETEC), which oversees the Mexican criminal justice reforms that were passed in 2008.
