A historical roundtable to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Brazilian military coup of 1964, which ushered in more than two decades of dictatorship marked by systematic human rights abuses. An official National Truth Commission, instituted in Brazil in May 2012, continues to investigate cases of enforced disappearances, torture, and persecution of political prisoners perpetrated by agents of the military regime.
