Field Research Opportunities
Anna Luiza Ozorio de Almeida Field Research Grant
A graduate research endowment established in memory of Anna Luiza Ozorio de Almeida, by family members and scholars whose research focuses on Brazil.
Eligibility: Graduate students in any department whose field research deals with Brazil. Applicants should provide a brief statement of the research project they wish to carry out and should attach a short vita to the application. The application should be accompanied by two letters of recommendation.
Stipend: $500.00

Faculty-Sponsored Dissertation Field Research Grant
Eligibility: Graduate students in any department Applicant must be advanced to candidacy before funds can be disbursed. Funds will be available after September 1st.
Stipend: Up to $6,500

Tinker Summer Field Research Grant
Tinker Field Research Grants are awarded as travel grants for graduate students with little or no previous field experience to enable them to conduct pre-dissertation research in specific regions of Latin America and Iberia. Students will be able to acquire a comprehensive knowledge of language, terrain, and culture; to familiarize themselves with information sources relevant to their studies; to conduct pilot studies and preliminary investigations; and to develop contacts with scholars and institutions in their fields.
The Tinker Field Research Grants are not to be used for advanced dissertation research, but rather to provide graduate students with their first experience in developing an independent research project and with conducting hands-on field research in Latin America or Iberia.
Eligibility: Graduate student in any department. Priority given to doctoral students.
Deadline: March 1, 2009.
