Research interests: Land use/cover change and biodiversity conservation in mountain and lowland
environments of the tropical Andean region; effects of ecological and biodiversity
factors on land use decisions and the conservation potential of ecological and
biodiversity units at various scales of aggregation, from local to regional;
quantitative and spatial analysis (i.e., GIS and remote sensing) applications to
environmental and conservation studies
