E. D. Farmer International Fellowship

Objective

The Forty-first Texas Legislature created the E. D. Farmer International Fellowship with the purpose of building friendship and fostering goodwill between Texas and Mexico. This fellowship provides financial support to conduct research, fieldwork, or studies in Mexico or to undertake graduate studies or research activities at The University of Texas at Austin.

Eligibility

The E. D. Farmer International Fellowship is limited to applicants from Mexico or Texas. To become an eligible candidate for the fellowship, applicants must submit their applications under one of the following categories:

1) Mexican students applying to UT Austin

Mexicans students currently applying to UT Austin are students who have graduated or have studied at least two years at a Mexican university, and who are simultaneously applying to an undergraduate or graduate program at UT Austin. Successful applicants will become eligible for in-state tuition and a monthly stipend for nine months, the amount of which will depend on available funds. If you are applying under this category, please present the following documents:

2) Mexican students currently studying at UT Austin

Mexican students currently studying at UT Austin are Mexican citizens who are currently studying in a graduate or undergraduate program at this university, with the exception of exchange program students. Applicants can use the fellowship in two ways. If the fellowship is requested to support living expenses, the fellows may be eligible for in-state tuition and will receive a monthly stipend for nine months. If the fellowship is requested to support research expenses, funding will depend on the research budget and availability of funds. Please present the following documents if you are applying under this category:

3) Applicants from the State of Texas

Applicants from the State of Texas are students who have completed satisfactorily at least two years of study at an accredited college or university, one of these two years having been completed at UT Austin. This fellowship can only be used to support research on Mexican issues, and its stipend varies according to the research budget. Please present the following documents:

Proposals must be submitted no later than February 22, 2008.
