Gail Sanders, Program Coordinator for the Mexican Center and development projects at LLILAS, is one of six staff members in the College of Liberal Arts to receive a 2011 President's Outstanding Staff Award in recognition of extraordinary contributions to the continuing success of the University of Texas.
Ms. Sanders, who joined the institute staff in 2007, was among thirty UT staff members recognized for exceptional ability at promoting collaboration, communication, and cooperation among university colleagues and constituents. The award winners will receive certificates and a $1,500 honorarium at the 50th Annual President's Staff Awards ceremony on May 13 in the Texas Union Ballroom. Gail played a major role in coordinating Mexico 2010, a year-long series of events celebrating the dual anniversaries of the bicentennial of Mexican independence from Spain in 1810 and the centennial of the Mexican Revolution in 1910.
Regarding her selection, Gail says, "I am honored and thrilled to have received this award. I love working at LLILAS because of the great programs we carry out here, but also for the wonderful people I work with at the institute and from Latin America."
