UT-Brazil Agreement Signed to Fund Research Exchange
Posted: August 19, 2013
In June 2013, as part of an effort to improve our relationship with Brazilian institutions, The University of Texas at Austin signed an agreement with FAPESP (Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo), the São Paulo state funding agency, to jointly allocate $600,000 in research funding over the next three years.
The agreement enables researchers affiliated with UT and with higher education and research institutions in the State of São Paulo to submit proposals for the exchange of researchers and PhD and postdoctoral fellows. Each institution will provide funding up to the equivalent of US$25,000 per proposal and per year for the period established in the selected proposal.
The first Call for Proposals, focused on (1) Processes of Social Inclusion and (2) Law, Energy, Urbanization, and the Environment, has been published. Proposals (cosponsored by principal investigators from UT and São Paulo) are due October 21, 2013. At UT, the call is open to PIs from the College of Liberal Arts, Law School, School of Architecture, and the School of Social Work. All other UT faculty can participate in the proposals but not as PIs.
We encourage you to learn more about how to submit a proposal by visiting http://www.fapesp.br/en/7993.
