Posted: March 17, 2009
LLILAS congratulates Bethany Letalien on her recent selection as a finalist in the prestigious Presidential Management Fellowship (PMF) Program. A 2002 LLILAS alum and longtime Graduate Research Assistant at the institute’s Latin American Network Information Center (LANIC), Bethany will receive her Ph.D. in information studies in May 2009.
Since 1977, the PMF program has been used by the federal government to attract and recruit talented graduate students to careers in public service. In this year’s competition, Bethany was one of only 786 finalists selected from a pool of 5,111 applicants. She will begin interviewing with federal agencies in late March.
Bethany’s long record of service at LANIC includes primary responsibility for two major site-wide redesign projects, maintenance of a majority of LANIC’s 122 country and subject Web content guides, and Web design and coding of numerous LANIC special initiative sites.
