LLILAS and School of Music Offer Brazilian Popular Music Course

The Teresa Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies and the School of Music will host Brazilian popular music scholar Martha de Ulhoa in a Visiting Resource Professor program January 27–February 9, 2008.
Dr. de Ulhoa is an ethnomusicologist affiliated with the Instituto Villa-Lobos at the Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. During her residency, she will conduct a four-session, not-for-credit short course examining the diverse traditions of popular music throughout Brazil.
This course will meet Mondays and Wednesdays, January 28 and 30, February 4 and 6, 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. in MRH 3.314, School of Music. It is free and open to members of the general public as well as the UT community. Readings will be made available online in advance in order to facilitate discussion.
