UT Acquires Lister Papers

The University of Texas at Austin has received the papers of career foreign services officer George Lister. Lister worked behind the scenes in the early 1970s to shake conventional wisdom that human rights concerns did not bear consideration in foreign policy decisions. His ideas took root, helping to spawn an influential State Department bureau dedicated to human rights.
