Course Description

In this course we will analyze and discuss the methodologies of archival research relevant to Historical Anthropology (or Ethnohistory). We will explore a variety of archival media and profit from the vast resources of the University of Texas. The seminar will be run as a project-oriented workshop, whereby students will spend most of the semester working on their research projects. Theoretical readings and discussions will aim to guide students through the research process. Students who register for this course are required to have a fairly clear idea of the research topic they intend to pursue. Furthermore, students who commit to this course are requested to contact the instructor as early as possible to discuss, broadly, their individual research interests. This course is open to students of all subfields of Anthropology. Students whose primary language is Portuguese, Spanish, French, or Italian are also welcome. Email:
