Two UT Geography students were among sixteen college students from around the country selected to study conservation in the United States and Brazil through the 2007 Nissan-World Wildlife Fund Environmental Leadership Program.

Nissan says, "This program identifies and empowers diverse young leaders on U.S. college and university campuses to become strong and effective advocates for an environmentally sustainable future." Each student will receive a $5,000 prize and will attend a summit in Washington and Nashville in June, then go on a research trip to the states of São Paulo and Amazonas, Brazil, where they will participate in volunteer activities to help them learn about stewardship in urban and forest environments.
