Texas Asia Conference - Fall 2013 Planning Committee
Thu, September 27, 2012 • 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM • Meyerson Conference Room (WCH 4.118)
Informational Meeting for the Texas Asia Conference 2013 Planning Committee
The Texas Asia Conference (TAC) is a biennial and international graduate student conference organized on the initiative of UT Department of Asian Studies graduate students. The TAC invites graduate students working on original research projects across disciplines and across traditional academic divisions of Asia to present their work. The conference provides graduate students with a dynamic forum in which to present their research and benefit from a scholarly exchange of ideas. We welcome abstracts from graduate students in all academic disciplines engaged in research on South, Southeast, Central, and East Asia, and their communities in the diaspora. Our last conference, which took place in Spring of 2011, was very successful and well attended with keynote speeches by Dr. Lisa Mitchell and Dr. Ping‐hui Liao (check out the program here: http://www.utexas.edu/cola/insts/southasia/news/3446).
The Fall 2013 Conference will take place next September. The TAC planning committee is now seeking graduate students in the Department of Asian studies as well as ALL UT departments to join our committee and get involved! A general overview of duties/committee positions is outlined below. This semester, our primary goals will be: committee formation, deciding on finalized dates for the conference, and brainstorming. We will only meet two to three times this semester, however, the spring semester is when the real work begins! Give only as much time as you can, but any and all help is much appreciated!
Food and drink will be provided!
