Indian Chintz to Japanese Wa Sarasa: Impact of Trade Textiles of India on Japanese Textiles

 

The illustrated talk traces the Indian textiles traded to Japan starting from Ryukyu Kingdom Period

to the Period of European Traders, the routes they used for trading, the way Indian textiles were used

in Japan, what did Japanese produce after copying ‘prohibitively expensive’ Indian textiles and what

were the differences between original Indian textiles and those produced by Japanese.
