Lecture Focuses on Law and Indegeneity in India.
Amita Baviskar, Visiting Associate Professor of Cultural and Social Anthropology at Stanford University, will deliver a talk on "Law, Land and Citizenship: Claiming Indigeneity in India" on Thursday, April 28, at 4:30 pm at the Eidman Courtroom in the School of Law. Her talk is the keynote address for a workshop on "Adjudicating Culture, Politicizing Law: Legal Strategies for Black and Indigenous Land Right Struggles in the Americas," sponsored by the Bernard and Audre Rapoport Center for Human Rights and Justice at the Law School, the Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies, and the Center for African and African American Studies.
