Rajendra Vora is Professor of Politics and Public Administration at the University of Pune, India. Professor Vora is an accomplished scholar who has worked a great deal with questions related to the vitality of democracy in India and how religion, culture, and region play a role within such a political structure and practice. He is the author of numerous books and articles including a work he coedits with Suhas Palshikar, Indian Democracy (2004), which brings together a contemporary understanding of Indian politics by scholars of diverse intellectual pursuits. The volume covers a large range of issues such as secularism, caste, Hindutva, party electoral stability and social movements and it also bends empirical studies on Indian politics with theorization of critical issues in contemporary political processes. He is also the author of Mulshi Satyagraha: World’s First Anti-Dam Movement (forthcoming) and coeditor of Region, Culture and Politics in India (2006).
