Dr. Ute Hüsken is Professor of Sanskrit at the University of Oslo (Norway) and heads the project “Initiation, Priestly Ordination, Temple festivals: Ritual Traditions in the South Indian Temple City of Kancipuram” at the Collaborative Research Center “Dynamics of Ritual” at the University of Heidelberg (Germany). Her research interests include the disciplinary code for Theravada Buddhist nuns, the transitional rites of the Vaikhanasas in South India, and ritual theory.
