Brown Bag Romani Presentation
Mon, March 24, 2008 • 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM • Meyerson Conference Room (WCH 4.118)
Romani is the language of over three quarters of the world's twelve million Roma.
Commonly-but inaccurately-called "Gypsies," the Roma were first identified in the late 18th century as having come from India, but the circumstances of that exodus have not been properly understood until recently. Professor Hancock will summarize the current findings and provide an overview of the population, between two and three million of whom live throughout North and South America.
