Roanne Kantor is a PhD candidate in Comparative Literature at UT Austin. Her dissertation, “Cartographies of Engagement: the Parallel Journeys and Partial Solidarities of Latin American and South Asian Authors” focuses on Latin American authors living in India and comparable experiences of South Asian authors over the course of the twentieth century. Roanne is also a translator from Spanish and the winner of the 2009 Susan Sontag Prize for Translation. Her translations of Juan José Saer, Ignacio Padilla and others have appeared in TWO LINES: World Writing in Translation, Landmarks anthology (2013), Little Star Magazine (2011) and Palabras Errantes: Latin American Literature in Translation through Cambridge University (2011-present).
