6th International Congress on Traditional Asian Medicine, April 27-30, 2006
Posted: March 30, 2006
This conference is free to UT faculty and students upon presentation of UT ID. General public is welcome with paid registration.
International scholars from the US, Europe and Asia will be presenting papers on the senses (such as vision and hearing) and their functions in medicine and in different medical contexts. Issues of prognosis and diagnosis, sensory perception and the interpretation of symptoms take center-stage as presenters grapple with the reconciliation and active interaction of older medical paradigms with contemporary practice.
Further, papers focus on physical substances (such as blood, milk, or tears) and their roles in different theories and models of anatomy and treatment. Participants include scholars across science and humanities disciplines as well as practitioners of traditional Asian medicine such as Ayurveda, acupuncture and yoga.
