A Public Talk by Mr. Morton H Meyerson on "How the David Nathan Meyerson Foundation Came to Support the South Asia Institute Program"

Morton Meyerson, CEO of 2M Companies, is both one of America’s most successful businessmen and a major contributor to cultural and charitable causes. He is described by the business magazine FAST COMPANY “as one of the most influential figures in the history of the computer industry.” A key player in the rise of Dell Computers and at one time the chief technology officer of General Motors, he has also been elected to The American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is the chief officer of the David Nathan Meyerson family foundation, which is named after his late son David. He and his family are strong believers in the Jewish philosophy of Tzedakah, the Hebrew word for the just and righteous giving required of Jews. A singer with the Dallas Symphony Chorus, he has been a major supporter of music and the arts in his hometown. He has also generously donated to several projects and professional development scholarships for numerous programs at University of Texas at Austin. For all of his accomplishments and philanthropic efforts, Meyerson was recognized by UT-Austin in 2005 with a Distinguished Alumnus Award.
