The Equity Research department provides in-depth analysis of companies, industries, and markets to assess the investment outlook in equities. It collects and analyzes financial information to make investment recommendations on stocks in specific sectors. Analysts build financial models to explore scenarios, examine industries and communicate with companies and investors. Equity Research team members discuss their analysis and investment recommendations in research notes.
Placement and duration. The 10-week program typically begins in early June. Summer Associates will split their time between two of the following sector teams: Commodities, Consumers, Energy & Utilities, Financials, Health care, Industrials, Materials, Media, Strategy, Telecommunication and Technology. Placement is based on demand, skill set of the candidate and candidate preference.
Training program. The Summer Associate Program begins with a training and development curriculum that will equip you with the fundamental skills and personal and professional awareness that you will need in order to be successful in Equity Research. Training is approximately one week long and includes a firmwide orientation, business overviews, accounting, and financial modeling — including proprietary model-building systems — case studies and networking events. You will also be assigned a mentor upon your arrival at the Firm.
Responsibilities may include
• Gather and analyze industry data to develop an industry vision.
• Analyze emerging trends in an industry or macroeconomy.
• Assess relative stock valuations and review findings with your team and ultimately with internal clients.
• Build relationships with Sales & Trading and Research.
• You are pursuing an MBA with a strong academic background.
• You have strong quantitative, analytical, written and oral communication skills.
• You have a keen interest in the financial markets with a research instinct and creative problem-solving abilities.
• You are intellectually curious, focused and possess an entrepreneurial spirit.
