Admissions and Entering Class Statistics

In LAH, we strive to create a well-balanced class that brings together students with various backgrounds and interests.  We seek to admit students from small and large schools, urban and rural areas, and public and private schools.  As the statistics below will show, we have succeeded in admitting both a talented and diverse student body.

Applications

In 2015, 967 completed applications were reviewed. (891 in 2014, 1031 in 2013, 800 in 2012, 886 in 2011, 850 in 2010, 985 in 2009)

LAH sent 408 Admission offers  (112 over-lapped with offers made by other honors programs within UT)

*Waitlist offers

LAH will typically make 75 waitlist offers. Students must send in a written request to remain on the waitlist.
In 2015, 45 students submitted a request to be on the LAH waitlist. 16 students to join LAH in 2015.

*The process of placing students on a Wailtlist is pending for the 2015-2016 admissions cycle.

Gender breakdown of applicants to LAH

Out of the 967 applications submitted to LAH, 318 applications were submitted by males. 649 submitted by females.

Non-Resident and Foreign

196 applications were submitted by non-resident and foreign students.  87 students were sent an offer of admission.

Major Breakdown:

International Relations and Global Studies, Psychology (BS & BA), English, Government, and Unspecified Liberal Arts continue to be among the more popular major choices of entering Liberal Arts students.

Anthropology, Economics, Environmental Science, History, Linguistics, Philosophy and Sociology are also well represented.

Asian Studies, Classics, French, German, Middle Eastern Studies, Iberian and Latin American Langues and Cultures are other majors students selected.

Students pursuing dual degrees: 19 (combining colleges Liberal Arts and..)

Business, Communication (Communication Studies, Journalism, RTF)  Engineering (Aerospace, Biomedical, Civil, Mechnical, Petroleum), Fine Arts (Studio Art), Natural Sciences(Biology, Textiles and Apparel).
