Humanities Alum Anne Hulsey Awarded Endowed Engineering Fellowship

Anne is a graduate student in the Cockrell School of Engineering. She credits her background in Humanites for receiving the Academy of Distinguished Alumni Endowed Graduate Fellowship in Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering. Anne completed her Humanities contract, "Building Blocks of Culture," in 2009 with senior thesis, "Politics as an Expression of Culture: Honor in Turkish International Relations."

Carson White and Ethan Levinton Receive Prizes for the Thomas Jefferson Center's Essay Contest

Carson White received first place for her essay on Homer's Odyssey entitled "Odysseus' Inner Conflict." Ethan Levinton was named runner-up for his essay comparing Aristotle's Ethics and the Book of Qohelet on the relationship of virtue and happiness.

The prestigious award is given each year to 12 Liberal Arts graduating seniors.

Congratulations to Sarah Lusher and David Oh, who started with LAH as incoming first year students and Ana Laura Rivera, a Humanities honors major. Rebekah Rodriguez and Philip Tryon, who joined LAH as upper-division students, were also named Dean's Distinguished Graduates. We're also very proud of our four students who received Honorable Mention: Jamie Hill, Thad Kull, Philip Wiseman, and Ben Wollam.

Congratulations to Sophia Softky, Recipient of Kathy and Philip Patman Endowed Scholarship

Sophia currently is writing her thesis for her Humanities contract on "Critical Theory." The Patman Scholarship is awarded to either a Liberal Arts Honors or Plan II student each year for outstanding work on the thesis.
