Echo 360 lecture capture technology recorded the LAITS Friday Technology Forum held on November 20, 2009.
There were two new demonstrations this month: Katrin Erk, Assistant Professor of Linguistics, presented Shalmaneser and Adam Rabinowitz, Assistant Professor of Classics, spoke about the GeoDia project.
Shalmaneser is a system for automatic word sense disambiguation and semantic role labeling for English. Dr. Erk also discussed her findings from incorporating Shalmaneser into her Introduction to Computational Linguistics course.
GeoDia is an interactive spatial-temporal map of ancient Mediterranean archaeological sites spanning a period of nearly 3500 years. GeoDio uses a combination of a timeline, a map, and material in DASe to present a variety of resources in archaeology and art history.
