Peter M. Ward, Professor C. B. Smith, Sr. Centennial Chair in United States-Mexico Relations (Department of Sociology and LBJ School of Public Affairs), was the Director of the LLILAS Mexican Center from 1992–96 and 2000–05.

Kenneth F. Greene, Associate Professor (Department of Government) is the author of Why Dominant Parties Lose: Mexico's Democratization in Comparative Perspective (2007).  He currently serves as Principal Investigator on the Mexico 2012 Panel Study, a nationwide studies of public opinion.

Jorge R. Piñon, Interim Director (Center for International Energy and Environmental Policy) and Director (Latin America and Caribbean Energy Program) served as president of Amoco Oil de Mexico from 1994-99.
