New Book by LLILAS Alum Roberta Villalón

LLILAS MA graduate Roberta Villalón (class of 2002) recently published “Violence Against Latina Immigrants: Citizenship, Inequality, and Community” with New York University Press. Her book examines complexities of domestic violence, immigration policies, and citizenship faced by immigrant women, addressing policy and legal changes to reduce vulnerability to abuse.

A former Graduate Research Assistant at the institute's Latin American Network Information Center (LANIC), Roberta also received a PhD in sociology from UT in 2007.  She is Assistant Professor of Sociologyat St. John's University in New York City.

Professor Villaón's book is available through NYU Press.
