Prof. Frank Guridy Recipient of 2010 Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award

LLILAS-affiliated Associate Professor of History Frank Guridy is among 34 UT faculty members to receive an outstanding teaching award from the University of Texas System's Board of Regents.

Educators from 15 institutions in the UT System, totaling 72 faculty, were selected who demonstrated extraordinary classroom performance and innovation at the undergraduate level. The awards, which totaled $2 million, ranged from $15,000–$30,000 each.

Guridy, a 2002 PhD of the University of Michigan, teaches courses on Modern Latin America, Reimagining Cuba, and Racialization in Hemispheric America. He is author of Forging Diaspora: Afro-Cubans and African-Americans in a World of Empire and Jim Crow (University of North Carolina Press, 2010).
