Longs to Receive Presidential Citation for 2010

Tue, February 8, 2011

Austin philanthropists and LLILAS namesakes Joe and Teresa Lozano Long are among the recipients of the prestigious Presidential Citation for 2010, which honors contributions of individuals who personify the university's commitment to transforming lives. The Longs, both UT alums, have been longtime benefactors of the university and the Austin community.

Also to be honored are U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk, UT Senior Vice President Shirley Bird Perry, and Ransom Center Director Tom Staley, along with four students who will be receiving the citation. Initiated in 1979, the award salutes those whose service exemplifies the values shared by the university community. The citations will be presented by President William Powers at a ceremony later in the academic year.
