LLILAS Benson Transformations Invite and Enliven

Thu, November 14, 2013

On October 24, 2013, LLILAS Benson hosted a reception to celebrate its newly branded partnership and transformations to its spaces within Sid Richardson Hall, Unit 1.

Visitors to LLILAS Benson are now greeted on the east side of the building with a large banner featuring the new logo  as well as window decals displayed prominently on the north and south ends of the building.  Column banners also flank the entrance to the building and help draw in visitors.

Within the building, updates to the Main Reading Room include a more spacious layout, the incorporation of more modern furniture, and the removal of the heavy curtains that enclosed the space.  On the second floor, improvements include: an exhibit gallery showcasing some of the amazing treasures held in the Benson Collection; a 100-person conference space with stunning views of downtown Austin; and, the Benson Study Commons, a quiet study space for library patrons.  Colors from the new logo have been incorporated througout the building, including the entrance lobbies for both the Nettie Lee Benson Latin American Collection and the Teresa Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies as well as within the new Benson Study Commons.

We invite everyone to stop by and view the improvements in person or visit our online photo gallery. To share your thoughts about the transformations, please participate in our brief survey.
