LLILAS Alum Named Assistant USTR for the Americas

As the new Assistant United States Trade Representative, Everett Eissenstat is responsible for developing and implementing U.S. trade policy in the Americas. "Everett Eissenstat brings a wealth of trade know-how to this position both from the legislative and executive branches," said Ambassador Rob Portman.

Eissenstat previously served as the Chief International Trade Counsel to the Chairman of the U.S. Senate Finance Committee, the Legislative Director to Congressman Jim Kolbe, and a Special Assistant in the Office of the Western Hemisphere at the Office of the USTR.

Eissenstat received his juris doctorate from the University of Oklahoma, his M.A. in Latin American Studies from The University of Texas at Austin, and a B.S. in Political Science and Spanish from Oklahoma State University. He currently resides in Alexandria, Virginia with his wife Janet and son Jacob.
