Thu, October 13, 2005

LLILAS congratulates LANIC alum Grete Pasch on being awarded the prestigious "Arroba de Oro," the top prize in Guatemala's nationwide web design competition. The "Arroba de Oro" competition is sponsored by Guatemalan daily newspaper Prensa Libre.

Pasch, a graduate of UT's School of Information, worked at LANIC during its formative years in the mid 1990s and was instrumental in launching numerous web-based projects at LANIC, including the Latin American Periodicals Tables of Contents (LAPTOC) database.

Pasch is currently Director of the Ludwig von Mises Library at Universidad Francsico Marroquin in Guatemala where she has founded the university's new media center. Together with her spouse, Rodrigo Arias, Pasche built the Glifos ILS (Integrated Library System) and oversees development of its media and content management software. Glifos is in use at dozens of libraries throughout Latin America.
