Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long Annual Visiting Professorship

This endowment supports visiting scholars from a Latin American country to teach at UT for one semester.

Tinker Visiting Professor

The goal of the Tinker Visiting Professor program is to bring pre-eminent thinkers from Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula to the United States as a means of encouraging contact and collaboration among scholars.

Matías Romero Visiting Chair in Mexican Studies

The Matías Romero Visiting Chair in Mexican Studies was created in 2003 through an educational and research cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Relations of Mexico and UT Austin. Its purpose is to promote the presence and participation of distinguished Mexicans from the public and private sectors, as well as from academia, to foster greater understanding of Mexican culture and society.

UT-Fulbright Visiting Professor in Environmental Sciences and Policy

In 2010, the Teresa Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies and the Fulbright Commission of Brazil signed an agreement to create a Fulbright Visiting Professorship in Environmental Sciences and Policy, which brings an eminent Brazilian scholar to the University of Texas at Austin to teach a graduate course and conduct research for one semester each academic year, from 2011 through 2015.

International Office Faculty Fellows

LLILAS periodically hosts International Office Faculty Fellows, who are scholars nominated by UT faculty and selected by the UT International Office to spend a semester in residence at UT Austin to teach a course, participate in a lecture series and/or conduct research.  The intent of the fellowship program is to facilitate stronger ties between UT Austin and Latin American institutions of higher learning.

Visiting Resource Professors

Visiting Resource Professors are invited by UT Latin Americanist faculty members to lecture for one to two weeks in either undergraduate or graduate classes.

Visiting Scholars and Research Fellows

Due to the outstanding Benson Latin American Collection and its affiliation with the Teresa Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies (LLILAS), many scholars choose to spend sabbatical or other research leave at the University of Texas at Austin.

Minority Serving Institutions (MSI) Research Travel Fellowships

LLILAS Benson Latin American Studies and Collections at the University of Texas at Austin announces the availability of travel fellowships for faculty from community colleges and qualified Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) across the U.S. to conduct research at the Nettie Lee Benson Latin American Collection, one of the premier libraries in the world focused on Latin America and Latino/a studies.

Becas de Viaje para Investigación: Colección Latinoamericana Nettie Lee Benson–LLILAS

A partir de 2011 y con el apoyo de la Cátedra Centenario C. B. Smith, Padre para las Relaciones México-EE.UU., se otorgará un máximo de siete becas para investigadores de México y Centroamérica para realizar estudios en la Colección Latinoamericana Nettie Lee Benson de la Universidad de Texas en Austin. Conforme vaya desarrollándose el programa en el futuro, esperamos extender la invitación para el resto de Latinoamérica.
