Universal Justice or the Trial of Innocence by Hoda Barakat

Mon, November 18, 2013 | AVAYA Auditoritum (POB 2.302)

7:00 PM

Starting with the Biblical figure of Job, discussing his trials and tribulations as a test of his faith in God, this talk frames the question of universal justice ethically and philosophically. Tying this to the crises currently gripping the Arab world, Barakat asks who is being tried today? How is universal justice being redefined through this trial? And what social and political models emerges from the Arab Spring, which is being cast as a redemptive purgatory.
