Biography


Katy Whiting is a Master's student studying Applied Lingustics, with a focus on Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language. She is primarily interested in developing instructional materials which focus on teaching culture and colloquial language at the K-12 level. 

She holds a Bachlor's degree in Religious Studies with a concentration in Middle Eastern Studies and Islamic Civilization from Macalester College. During that time she was able to study abroad at the University of Jordan in Amman, Jordan, as well as at the Bourguiba School of Modern Languages in Tunis, Tunisia. She speaks Levantine Arabic and Modern Standard Arabic, and is passionate about sharing her love of the Arabic language with others.
