Annual Hebrew Scholarships Competition Opens

The Dan C. Dancinger scholarships will be awarded to selected eligible students.

Undergraduate and graduate students of good academic standing who are currently enrolled in Hebrew classes, will be enrolled in Hebrew classes in the spring semester of 2006, and can demonstrate commitment to Hebrew studies, are eligible. Preference will be given to students with a declared Hebrew undergraduate major or graduate field of study.

The application deadline is October 26, 2005

Scholarships will be announced by mid-November 2005.


CMES Launches Summer Program in Egypt for Teachers

Final preparations are being made for this summer's Study Tour and Curriculum Development Project in Egypt, a project that will allow 15 middle- and high-school teachers to travel to Egypt for four weeks in June and July 2005. This project is funded by a grant from the Fulbright-Hays foundation under the Group Projects Abroad program. Led by Kamran Aghaie, Associate Director and Assistant Professor of Islamic Studies, and Christopher Rose, Outreach Coordinator, the project will entail in-depth study of Egypt's history, culture and government from the ancient period to the present day.
