BNCO's Message

On behalf of our battalion staff and the entire battalion, I would like to officially welcome you to the Naval ROTC Battalion here at the University of Texas at Austin.  My name is Midshipman First Class Theron Dingas and I have the honor of being the Battalion Commanding Officer for the 2016 Spring Semester.  I am thankful for this opportunity and believe there is no better way to finish the journey here at The University of Texas.

This semester I would like to focus around the motto “Be the Best You.” As Midshipmen we all have many of the same academic and social concerns.  However we are all different, we all come from different backgrounds and have different interests. Strive to be the best you at everything you do throughout the semester and in life.

Joining the Naval ROTC Unit at The University of Texas has been the best decision of my life. Joining an elite group of highly intellectual and dedicated individuals challenges you to work hard at any task you are given. With the help of the outstanding unit staff, this program is much easier to handle. Throughout your four years here you will work closely with them on your journey to becoming a United States Naval Officer.

I want to wish the best of luck to everyone this semester. Work hard, stay dedicated but most of all find the time to slow down, relax, and have fun.  Your time here will go by faster than you could imagine, so take advantage of it by making friends and memories that will last you a lifetime. Be the Best You and Hook ‘Em.
