Spring 2011 Site Review
Position: Sales Intern
Student: Economics Senior
This semester I interned with Univision Radio Broadcasting as a Sales Intern. As the title suggests, one would expect to go out and have to sell radio to clients, but I did not have to do this at all. My role was to serve as support for the experienced account executives in the sales department. My day started out at 8:30AM three days a week, throughout the whole semester. I had my own cubicle, computer, telephone, printer, and office supplies. Every morning I had to check my outlook to see if I had any assignments or tasks to complete from previous days. If I did I would work on them and if I didn’t then I would go directly to my supervisor and ask for work. Throughout the day I would always get enough work to keep me busy during my stay.
My workload consisted from entering sales and production orders to translating commercial copy for radio commercials. I also had to complete two reports, attrition and inventory, every Friday for the sales manager. Other tasks included filling out promotion orders, adding new advertisers to the system, transcribing commercials, giving out prizes to winners, handling phone calls, and other administrative duties such as, faxing and working reception occasionally. The work environment was great along with colleagues, executives, and clients. I would highly recommend this internship to those who are really interested in getting experience and working for a top class company.
