Famigo Inc.

Spring 2013 Site Review

Position: SEO & Social Media Intern
Student: Economics Senior

Like I stated in my past journals, Famigo is not for everyone. Priorities, assignments, and organization within the company changes every time I go into office. But, the one thing I love about Famigo is the ability to pursue anything my hear desires. There’re plenty of opportunities to gain real world experience in what you want to pursue, you just have to seek them out. The projects you can pursue are totally up to you. I am really interested in SEO, so I was given projects that involved keyword research, link building, and researching search engine trends within the mobile industry. Another intern with the same internship title as me is pursuing different things. She’s interested in learning programming languages, specifically Python, Django, and Java. Basically, you can pursue whatever you want.

Even though we’re all able to pursue our individual interests, there are some required responsibilities that we must do every day before we can start our projects. The first is to do a minimum of three mobile app reviews a day – this is reviewing mobile apps through usability testing to measure child/family friendliness. You complete a survey of the app and if it’s good, you reach out to the developer via email and offer them a seal of approval badge. If they accept the badge and post it on their site, the app is featured in our weekly email, “Top Apps” blog post, and messaging within our social network. Free advertising for them and builds website credibility for us! The next thing is to search and create content for Famigo’s social networking sites. We found that our audience loves jokes that are related to being a parent, so that’s what we try to find. Good luck if you decide to work with Famigo!
