Summer 2012 Site Review
Position: Promotions Intern
Student: Economics Sophomore
As a Creative Services intern at Lucky Magazine, I do everything from administrative tasks to writing merchant agreements for leading advertisers. I report to my supervisor, the assistant to the associate publisher, and if she needs help, she gives me guidelines for the project.
I frequently do research for different divisions within our department. For example, in preparation for a photo-shoot, I looked for upscale photography studios in Manhattan, contacted their representatives, and put together an excel sheet. In addition, I identified competitors’ marketing strategies by pulling all promotional in-book listings from their five most recent issues, and I arranged the information into a binder presentation. Finally, I helped construct merchant agreements between Lucky and their advertisers. I personalized each contract according to the client’s added value programs, and I secured event details with representatives from several advertising firms.
During the second half of my summer, I assisted our Digital Marketing Director with the execution of our new shopping application My Lucky Shops. I kept Excel sheets and Google Documents up-to-date for our web developers in California, and I attended daily conference calls with the engineers.
