AmeriCorps VISTA – Dedicate a Year of Service:  AmeriCorps VISTA is the national service program designed specifically to fight poverty.  Founded as Volunteers in Service to America in 1965 and incorporated into the AmeriCorps network of programs in 1993, VISTA has been on the front lines in the fight against poverty in America for more than 40 years.

By serving through VISTA, you’ll gain new skills, friends, and experiences—plus you’ll get the satisfaction that comes from helping others.

Benefits for Members:  Bi-monthly living allowance payable every two weeks (approximately $390 depending on taxes) AND the option of EITHER $250 stipend or $1,174.60 Education Award upon successful completion of service.

Terms:  AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associates positions are dedicated to national service in the alleviation of poverty 24/7 during the length of their term.  Therefore, Summer Associates work full-time in their service placements and are not allowed to maintain any outside employment during their length of service.
