MediaScience conducts research for large cable and television networks and investigates a variety of media-related research questions for clients such as ABC, ESPN, Disney Channel, etc. We apply the rigor of experimental research to the evaluation of various media and advertising platforms.
MediaScience employs Research Interns to serve as the "gatekeeper" between our research panel and the company. The Research Intern is the "face" of the company and must present the appropriate image to participants while being courteous, understanding, professional, and maintaining scientific rigor to experimental procedures. The goal of the Research Intern is to always collect the best possible data for our clients.
There are a number of required duties to be carried out each day by Research Interns. These include, but are not limited to, opening and closing procedures, participant scheduling, answering phone calls, and, most importantly, running participants through studies and collecting data. Duties may also include data entry, data coding, document scanning, document shredding, lab maintenance, equipment maintenance, and more.
Pay and Hours
This internship runs through the fall 2013 semester. Research Interns will work 20 hours per week with an hourly wage of $11.25.
All Research Interns MUST be available for the following set shifts:
Tuesdays from 8:30am-2:30pm OR 2:30pm-8:30pm and Thursday 8:30am-2:30pm OR 2:30pm-8:30pm. Plus an additional weekend shift either Saturday or Sunday from 10:00am-6:00pm.
Research Interns must also be occasionally available for special event shifts.
Research Interns must possess, at a minimum, the following qualities:
An understanding of the value of all types of data collected
A solid understanding of experimental procedures
Meticulous attention to detail
High level of teamwork
High level of regard to participant experience in lab
Friendly phone personality
Ability to be thorough with even small tasks
Willingness to learn
Ability to explain a study to a participant and answer questions appropriately
Applicants with experience in the following areas will be strongly considered for the position:
Biometric equipment (esp. Labchart)
Statistical software (esp. SPSS)
Eye tracking equipment
Reaction time software (esp. Direct RT)
Neuroscience (e.g., fMRI, EEG, etc.)
