The Brigid Shea for County Commissioner is offering a position for a Communications and Branding Intern.   Working closely with our Campaign manager, you'll create and develop the voice of our campaign. Our candidate is well-spoken and well-connected, but we'll need you make sure she is heard, and by the right people.  You'll be in charge of the look and feel of our public interactions, including our web presence, relationships with local media and bloggers, and events with supporters.   You'll be in charge of content creation including blog posts, byline articles, and press releases. We are pretty flexible for part time and full time interns, though both are likely to have unconventional hours, due to special events and the nature of a fast-paced political campaign.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

Assist in website and blog re-design and branding.

Event development

Fostering relationships with members of the press and key players in the Austin political scene.



Qualifications:

The ideal candidate has a passion for active participation in political process, firmly progressive politics, and cares about the issues that affect citizens on the local level, like efficiency in government, protecting our parks and natural resources, public safety, and a fair labor market. Laptop computer required.

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Ambitious self-starter capable of working on your own and creating new projects.

Strong written and communication skills.

Social media and/or blogging experience.  

Strong organizational skills for event, calendar, and media maintenance.
