The Bullock Texas State History Museum, a division of the State Preservation Board, is seeking an Exhibits Intern to work a minimum of 10 hours a week within the normal working hours of 8am-4pm Monday - Friday to research and write interpretive content for a digital interactive on how counties in Texas voted for annexation in 1844. Will involve primary source research for voting statistics and period maps of Texas. Edit audio files of oral history interviews with various Texas women for use in a traveling exhibit. Internship will prepare students for position in museum exhibits by teaching them the research and editing process that goes into developing museum interactives and exhibits.
Senior or Graduate Student
Majors: History, Anthropology, Library Science, or Museum Studies
Required Skills and abilities: Effective organization and communication skills; Attention to detail; Research skills; Writing & editing skills; Computer skills: Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge of Texas history is helpful.
Preferred Skills and abilities: Experience handling artifacts, condition reporting, and previous museum experience; Graphic design; Audio & video editing; Experience with archival primary source research
