The Tobin Project seeks a highly motivated and organized self-starter to join our small but growing team in Harvard Square as the Policy & Development Assistant. This is a key role in the organization and is an unparalleled opportunity to be intimately involved with the inner workings of an entrepreneurial, mission-driven non-profit. The Policy & Development Assistant will work closely with the Director of Policy & Communications to support our development and policy efforts. The position will be especially suitable for individuals considering future careers in the non-profit and public policy arenas. 
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

 Executive Support: You will be the go-to team member for the Director of Policy & Communications, helping with scheduling, managing his calendars, drafting high-level correspondence, preparing mailings, and, most importantly, helping to manage priorities. 
 Policy and External Affairs: You will work closely with the Director of Policy & Communications to engage our network of policymakers, incorporate policymakers into our research efforts, manage relationships with external organizations, and help craft our policy and external affairs strategy. 
 Development: You will work closely with the Director of Policy & Communications to maintain our records, draft donor correspondence, spearhead prospect research, and assist in developing fundraising strategies. You will also work with the Director of Operations on grant administration and reporting. 
 Event Planning: You will be responsible for planning and coordinating policy meetings, development-related events, and board meetings. 
 Other responsibilities may include managing publication projects, designing and executing other communication efforts for the organization's scholars, donors, stakeholders, and the general public, and more. 

Qualifications 
A bachelor's degree is required and work experience in a fast-paced office environment is desirable. Additionally, the applicant will have: 
 Exceptional attention to detail and highly developed execution skills. The ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage deadlines, both individually and organization-wide, is essential; 
 Comfort and expertise working in an externally facing role and interacting with stakeholders of the Tobin Project including: policymakers, partner organizations, donors, and the media; 
 Excellent event planning skills; 
 Strong writing and editing ability; 
 The flexibility and resourcefulness to master new and varied tasks; 
 An entrepreneurial work ethic; 
 The ability to think strategically; 
 The ability to work independently and as a member of a team; and 
 Strong interpersonal skills.
