Duties: The Student Lecture Series is an intern mentoring program for high school and college students. Student interns will conduct research based on a chosen topic that relates to the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum permanent exhibit. This research topic will be a study of American history, the American Presidency or important issues of public policy. The research project will conclude with a student-led lecture. Students will present their research to their peers and to Presidential Library and Museum docents in a classroom or lecture hall setting.
Qualifications: Due to the sensitive nature of Presidential materials, all volunteers must successfully pass a background check and sign a confidentiality agreement.
Must be able to receive school credit; must be able to make a one-semester commitment; able to work up to 4.5 hours per week on a non-paid basis, the schedule of a Student Lecture Series participant is program based and may vary; for some duties, must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; for some duties, must be able to stand for long periods of time and able to climb ladders; proficient in Microsoft Suite programs a plus; ability to learn new skills.
Students must have the support of a teacher or professor who will serve as a project supervisor.
