Fran Linkin, Reproductive Health Consultant, Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University

Fran Linkin received a Master of Public Health degree with a focus on reproductive and family health in May 2013 from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University. She received her undergraduate degree in women’s studies from the University of California Santa Barbara in 2007 and worked in non-profit women’s health care advocacy for several years before pursuing her master’s degree. As a consultant on this study, she collaborated with community organizations throughout the state of Texas during the summer of 2012 to coordinate focus groups with low income women about their experiences accessing family planning services. She continues to be involved in the analysis and reporting of the focus group data.

Fran’s academic and research interests are focused on barriers that women face in accessing reproductive health care, with a particular focus on government policy and insurance coverage. In the rare moments that she is not thinking or talking about reproductive health at school and work, Fran enjoys listening to live music and planning future road trips through Texas.
