Andrew Janos Lecture: Islamic Revolution and the Crisis of Our Times - Order and Revolution in the Post-Modern Age

The lecture draws on ideas and text from a larger work in progress tentatively entitled "Order and Crisis in the Modern World." His presentation will examine three crises of our times: the crisis of the West, the crisis of world order, and the "post-modern crisis of technological civilization."
Andrew Janos is Professor of Political Science, Emeritus, at the University of California, Berkeley. Professor Janos' teaching and research fields are comparative and East European politics. His most recent writings have been on the politics of agriculture in modern Europe, East and West. He is currently working on "Rebellions Against World Order: Communism, Fascism and Radical Political Islam."His works include The Politics of Backwardness in Hungary (1980), Politics and Paradigms (1986), Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia: The Dissolution of National States (1997), and East Central Europe in the Modern World (2001). He was elected Distinguished Emeritus Professor of UC Berkeley in 2010.
