Paul Woodruff: The Goat, or, Who is Sylvia? Notes Toward a Definition of Tragedy by Eward Albee; August 24.

A startling play by one of America's great playwright's about an architect at the peak of his career with a love interest he finds it hard to explain to others, a son who has problems of his own, and a wife who is not content with the situation.  Readers take note:  the literal meaning of "tragedy" is "goat-song."

A former Plan II director, Paul Woodruff has written on ancient Greek philosophy, ethics, and on the philosophy of theater.  His hobbies include rowing, furniture-making, and music.  He is currently Dean of the School of Undergraduate Studies.
